On 26 Apr 08 ( Sat) Sai's friend Stephanie Box was at home .A simple homely girl she liked the Masala Dosas made by Latha very much .We all then went by Sai's car (a Toyata Camry) to Golden Gate Bridge . It was so windy and freezing cold!! Still enjoyed the trip.
As with most of the World's 7 wonders many said that the Bridge could never be built as the span was too wide, the Ocean too powerful and deep and the cost too great. It took four years for the Bridge to be built. The length of the steel wires used to make the cables of the Bridge is enough to circle the Earth three times!!More than 41 million vehicles cross the Bridge annually across six lanes of traffic; along its almost 3 km length. Initially the Toll to cross the Bridge was 50 cents each way .Today it is 5 USD for vehicles bound for San Francisco. This Bridge connects the main city of SFO to Marin county, Mill valley and beyond to the other suburbs like Novato and Petaluma where Stephanie lives.

On the hill on which we were standing is an old unused Fort of the 18th century. From there we can get a majestic view of the Golden Gate and the soaring underside of the structure. The Bridge has been reinforced to withstand earthquakes in a very unique engineering feat.
From there we went to the Golden Gate Garden a favourite of the San Franciscans Any week end, hundreds of people come here to just relax .All types of recreational and sports facilities are available. Saw in an open air auditorium some amateurs performing a dance like a Ballet .The stage was huge and the Sound system also. They were performing regardless of the number of spectators who were only a few including us! We also went to the Japanese Tea Garden out there which is equally famous. The tea was not particularly impressive even though South East Asian girls, in Japanese kimonos served the tea!!
